We want to share important information provided by VISIT BRITAIN regarding the new ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) requirement, which will become mandatory for travel to the United Kingdom starting from April 2, 2025.

This requirement applies not only to those whose final destination is the United Kingdom but also to those who are merely in transit without passing through border control.

What is the ETA? The ETA is an Electronic Travel Authorisation, which allows people to travel to the United Kingdom, but it is not a visa. It does not guarantee entry; it merely authorizes the journey.

When does it come into effect? From March 5, 2025, European citizens who meet the requirements will be able to apply for their ETA to travel to the United Kingdom from April 2, 2025.

What is the cost? The ETA costs £10.

What does it allow? An ETA allows multiple trips to the United Kingdom, with stays of up to six months each for a period of two years or until the passport expires. Important: Passengers in transit must also obtain an ETA.

How to apply? ? The fastest and easiest way to apply for an ETA is through the “UK ETA” app, available on Google Play and the Apple App Store. If you don’t have access to a smartphone, you can also apply through the GOV.UK. website. The process is straightforward, and applicants usually receive a response within a maximum of three working days. However, a quicker response is possible via the app.

Steps to apply for an ETA: First, pay the required fee. Then, provide your contact details and passport information. Next, submit a valid digital photo that meets GOV.UK guidelines. Finally, answer a few simple questions.
