Rembrandt, Chagall, Boafo, Gauguin Each year, at the end of September, Vienna’s leading museums unveil exceptional special exhibitions, which can be admired alongside their already outstanding collections. In this 2024, the exhibitions will focus on major figures such as Rembrandt at the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Chagall at the Albertina, Boafo at the Belvedere, and Gauguin at the Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien.

An autumn of art Vienna has long been considered a breeding ground for contemporary art. With Kunstherbst (literally, “autumn of art”) comes the perfect time to genuinely enjoy art. A whole series of cultural events will take you to on an exciting journey of discoveries. The first art fair of the season takes place at the magnificent Park Hyatt Vienna Hotel, located in the Goldenen Quartier in the heart of Vienna.

Terrifying Halloween For fans of this day, or rather night, Vienna shows its darker side. On one of the many ghost trains running through the Prater, witches and monsters stand guard, while some attractions pump adrenaline and fear, such as the Black Mamba, the Tornado, or the Magic Rotor. At the Funeral Museum, located in the Central Cemetery, you can experience what it’s like get inside a coffin.

Vienna’s Central Cemetery The second-largest cemetery in Europe is also one of Vienna’s most special places. In addition to being the final resting place of famous musicians like Johannes Brahms, Franz Schubert, Ludwig van Beethoven, Falco, and Udo Jürgens. Within the cemetery, you’ll also find the Church of St. Charles Borromeo, one of the most beautiful Art Nouveau architectures in Vienna. Its expansive garden is enveloped in a unique atmosphere, where it’s common to encounter squirrels, foxes, hamsters, and even roe deer—living proof that animals truly inhabit the city.

Breakfasts and snacks Located next to the second entrance of Vienna’s Central Cemetery, is the pastry shop Kurkonditorei Oberlaa, famous for its hearty breakfasts and exquisite pastries. It’s worth visit with plenty of time and appetite to fully enjoy the wide variety of cakes, sandwiches, pastries, chocolates, and almond treats on offer.

Vienna Design Week In 2024, Vienna Design Week will once again transform the city into a design hub for the eighteenth time. In collaboration with Vienna’s museums, local manufacturers, and designers, the festival offers numerous ways to engage with the theme of design, featuring events, exhibitions. Installations, tours, and numerous workshops held as part of the event.

Edelstoff Design Market On October 19th and 20th, the Edelstoff Design Market invites the public to explore the Marx Halle. 165 creative artists, both local and international, will display their accessories, fashion, jewelry, design projects and artwork. Everything is handmade, with a strong emphasis on sustainable materials. For those who work up an appetite while shopping, the market also features a diverse selection of street food stalls.
